Customer Reviews: Makes a cheaper, downgraded impression compared to past Crew models... July 15, 2009 APC Reviews (USA) 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
I am a long time fan and buyer of TravelPro luggage, and I have several pieces from the prior Crew-5 version of the Crew line. So, when it came time to buy a 24" bag, I immediately searched out a deal on the TravelPro Crew-7 model. However, after receiving it, I immediately returned it. TravelPro can spin all they want about how this is an upgrade over older models. But it makes a distinctly cheaper, downgraded impression. The quality and feel of the nylon shell, the zippers and the handles are not up to the impression made by the Crew-5 bags. I won't go into all the details of what was so disappointing about the bag, it was a cascade of little differences and shortcomings. But suffice it to say that the quality in materials, fit and finish was less than my prior Crew bags. It would be fair, I think, to say that TravelPro has downgraded the quality of the Crew-7 bags while moving up features and materials they used to sell as the Crew line to the more expensive Platinum seres. Let's just say that the bag had a "Samsonite" vibe of more budget level materials, fit and finish and, even at the price that I paid, which seemed like a great deal until I saw the bag, it's still over priced. Shame on you TravelPro.
Travelpro Poor Quality July 29, 2010 A. Helegda (Chicago, IL) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Travelpro's luggage quality has gone down over the years. It's very unfortunate, because the airline that I work for still continues to outfit its crew with this company's products.
